Dr. JOHN BRATTY

MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. John Bratty came to small animal veterinary practice by a round-about route that included farming, crossing the Indian Ocean in a sail boat and earning a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Montreal. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2000 and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in North Vancouver since 2003. He has special interests in ultrasound, internal medicine, dentistry and surgery. At home there are three mostly grown kids, lively young cats Bagheera and Kaa, Zoe, a cheerful border collie mix, and Louie the mischievous labradoodle puppy. With his wife Dominique and family he enjoys spending time at their rustic cabin in Howe Sound where he and the cats can go feral together, while Zoe seems to want to become a seal. Time will tell whether Louie shares that dream or comes up with something unexpected of his own.

Dr. Janet Maclean

Dr. Janet MacLean  has lived in 4 different provinces over her lifetime but has been very happy to call Vancouver home for the past 25 years.  She did her undergraduate degree at  the University of Waterloo in Ontario,  obtained a BSc in Biology,  then enrolled in a Master’s program but soon came to the realization that what  she really wanted to do was to become a veterinarian!  After graduating  from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, she packed up her bags, loaded up her car, drove from Ontario to BC and has never looked back!
Over the years, Janet has worked at a variety of  veterinary clinics and has learned and appreciated something new at each clinic.  She spent many years working at a cats only practice but really missed working with the dogs.  She is so happy to be a part of the wonderful team at the Lynn Valley Veterinary Clinic and loves the collaborative  approach and the feeling of always learning.  Her favourite aspect of being a veterinarian is sharing in the wonderful relationships between the client and their companion animals and helping to make that relationship the best that it can be.
Janet enjoys cycling,  snowshoeing and swimming in the ocean.   She shares  her home with her incorrigible mixed-breed dog Rosie and her extremely long-haired cat Reuben!
