I’ve never been to Mexico, but I’ve ended up with a Mexican rescue dog anyway – and an adorable little mutt he is! Not your typical beach stray, Pancho, a.k.a. Mowgli, was brought to Canada by some big-hearted people who took him under their wings when his ex-pat family in Baja could no longer care for him. A few hundred ticks and a tropical disease or two later he’s tearing around the Bratty home with his new best friend the golden retriever, has the cats whipped into shape, and is sleeping in the big bed! Infectious diseases are common in Mexican rescues, so if you bring one home be sure to get him or her checked out ASAP.
